Banksy Art

Banksy has to be one of the most popular graffiti artists of current times. He is also one of the most controversial artists of our time. Banksy art has been known to appear in cities around the world. The popularity of Banksy grew with his infamous graffiti art in well known spots around London and Bristol.

The Banksy graffiti on the West Bank barrier separating Palestinians and Israelis made him even more popular. Brad Pitt and Christina Aguilera are just a couple of his fans that have spent big money on his art. Still, Banksys identity is unknown.

The controversy of Banksys numerous tricks has propelled him into the limelight. His tricks include hanging a picture of Mona Lisa with a smiley face in Louvre in Paris and assembling a set of portable toilets to resemble the Stonehenge nicknamed the “bog henge”.

Banksy’s true identity is a fiercely guarded secret. Many people have captured who they claim is Banksy on film but as of yet have not managed to prove it was actually Banksy. Supposedly the anonymity of Banksy is not a ploy to sell more prints and canvases. It is important since graffiti is illegal in most places.

Banksy’s real name is popularly believed to be Robin Banks or Robin Gunningham. Bristol, the place this elusive artist was raised and born, is the only fact known about Banksy. 1974 is known to be his birth date. Lazarides is the owner of a London gallery that seels original Banksy art, he is also Banksys agent. Banksys website is looked over personally by himself.

“I have no interest in ever coming out” is something Banksy was once quoted as saying. The police now of his graffiti and pranks and this alone could land Banksy in a bit of bother. So who exactly is Banksy? We will quite possibly never really know for sure.
